Graphic Solutions for Economic Development

California cities are focused now, more than ever, on strategic growth that will provide ample housing, encourage economic development and promote a distinctive sense of place for residents and visitors alike.

Graphic Solutions has worked successfully with scores of California cities--elected officials, staff and stakeholders--to develop consensus for designs that celebrate each community's distinctive brand and character.  Recent projects include Crescent City, Balboa Village, Cathedral City, Laguna Beach, and many more.

"I found the Graphic Solutions team to be very experienced in both the creative and technical sides of developing our Wayfinding Program.

The overall result was an outstanding design that met both the aesthetics and the directional needs of the city."

-Assistant City Manager, City of Coronado

Unique shopping and dining experiences are combined with park-like amenities and new apartment homes at the Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch...and the project's aesthetic extends into the parking garages--to welcome visitors.

Graphic Solutions designed a series of bird and flower images, rendered in the rich colors of classic Southern California ceramic tiles--to designate parking levels.

Originally, Graphic Solutions worked with the developer, Coast Income Properties, and Architects SGPA--to design a dramatic overhead gateway, branding and comprehensive sign program for the project, including monument signage, site wayfinding and tenant criteria.

Graphic Solutions has been working with the City of Pasadena's Health Department to plan and design a comprehensive system of interior directories, circulation wayfinding and room identification signs.  Floor graphics at elevators help to establish a recognizable color system used to differential floor in the building

This first phase of the project includes an exterior banner system to help identify the building, improve the visual interface with the public and refresh the brand for the Public Health Department along busy Fair Oaks Blvd.  Graphic solutions develop imagery combined with a multiplicity of languages and a rich palette of colors to celebrate the diversity of the community.

SDSU Gateway: A Team Collaboration

When San Diego State University wished to transform its gateway entrances to enhance the campus, improve SDSU's brand image and provide photo sharing opportunities for students, SGPA Architecture and Planning stepped in as the principal consultant to lead the team, design and see the project to its successful completion.

SGPA, a valued Graphic Solutions' partner on many past projects, solicited our help in designing gateway concepts that would complement the existing campus tower's mission revival style of architecture, incorporate the colors, specific materials and the University's established branding.

The team also included KTU+A, landscape architects to create an attractive palette of appropriate, drought-tolerant plantings to reinforce the overall look of the new gateway signs.

Snipe Dye Associates worked with both the city and the university to provide civil engineering, realigning the roads impacted by the new gateways.

The resulting team collaboration delivered the dramatic combination of aesthetic, brand enhancement and sustainability that SDSU envisioned.
